With all the Pokémon Go craze going on, it’s time this geek made a contribution. What better way than to create edible Pokéballs?
These are no-bake oreo truffles, so you will not need an oven to make them. You only need a freezer, microwave and foodprocessor/blender. If you don’t have a foodprocessor, don’t sweat! Put the oreo’s in a ziplock bag and crush them with your rolling pin.
- 28 oreo’s
- 100 gr monchou
- 200 gr white chocolate
- red, bright white and black candy melts
Put the cookies in your foodprocessor and turn them into crumbs. Put the crumbs in a bowl, add the cream cheese and knead it into a ball.
Divide the oreo ball into 20 gram portions and roll them into balls. Put them in the freezer for about 5 minutes to firm up. Melt the white chocolate in a microwave at 30 second intervals. Dip the balls into the chocolate using a fork or special trident and cover them completely. Gently tap the fork on the rim of the bowl to remove excess chocolate and place them on parchment paper. Put them in the freezer for another 5 minutes.
Melt the candy melts in a microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring between each interval. Add vegetable shortening if the melted candy melts are not runny enough. Use a fork or trident to dip half the ball into the white candy melts and put it back on the parchment paper to set. When the chocolate is set, repeat the process in red.
Put a few black candy melts into a piping bag and melt them in a microwave at 30 second intervals. Knead the bag and cut off the tip, then draw the black lines and a circle in the middle. Use leftover white candy melts to fill in the circle to create the button.
Tadaa! Edible Pokéballs, the ideal treat for every Pokémon trainer. You could also try to make Great Balls, Ultra Balls and Master Balls by using different tips and candy melts.
