Advocaat no-bake cake
In my last post I told you about advocaat, a Dutch custard-like eggnog. Today I will be sharing an old recipe for no-bake advocaat cake!
Ingredients
- 100 gr butter
- 100 gr sugar
- 1 tbsp vanilla sugar
- 3 eggs
- 200 ml Advocaat
- 8 leaves gelatin
- 250 ml cream
- 250 – 300 gr ladyfingers
- 50ml hot water
Soak the gelatin in cold water for 5 minutes, squeeze the water out and dissolve in 50ml hot water. Whisk butter and sugar until creamy and set aside. Beat eggwhites into stiff peaks and set aside. Add the egg yolks to the butter one by one and add the advocaat and gelatin. Whip cream and add this to the egg mixture, then fold in the egg whites.
Line a cake tin with grease proof paper and create layers. Start with the ladyfingers, then add the Advocaat mixture, then another layer of ladyfingers and so on.
Cover in cling wrap and put it in the fridge for at least 6 hours.
When the cake has set, remove the film and place a plate on top. Flip the plate and remove the paper. Use a hot knife to cut the cake into slices.
