Chicken Nuggets with KFC spices
Happy fry-day everyone! Today I’ll be sharing another recipe for some deep-fried goodness, chicken nuggets! I found a combination of spices a while ago, which is KFC’s alleged secret spice recipe.. You can find it below and tell me what you think. I still need to do some more research on the recipe itself and how to use it (a marinade, maybe?), but until then, you can enjoy these seasoned chicken nuggets 😉
Ingredients
- 300 gr boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 100 gr flour
- 50 gr spices
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp water
- 300 gr breadcrumbs
- Vegetable Oil, For Frying
KFC‘s alleged secret spice recipe
- 2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tbsp thyme
- 1/2 tbsp basil
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tbsp celery salt
- 1 tbsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp dried mustard
- 4 tbsp paprika
- 2 tbsp dried garlic
- 1 tbsp ground ginger
- 3 tbsp white pepper
Start by mixing all the spices in a bowl or on a large plate. You won’t need all of it, so make sure you have a clean jar or container to store the rest of it.
Cut the chicken into chicken nugget pieces. Then, make a breading assembly line: In one bowl, stir together the flour and spices. In a separate bowl or deep plate, beat the eggs and water. In a third bowl or plate, add the breadcrumbs. First cover the chicken in flour, quickly dunk it into the egg mixture and then cover it with breadcrumbs. Place the pieces on a plate, until each nugget is breaded and ready to fry.
In a large, deep pan heat vegetable oil to about 180°C. Carefully place 8 to 10 pieces of chicken in the oil and use tongs to spread them out to give them room. Let them fry for a minute or so,until they are golden brown. If the chicken nuggets are small enough, this should be enough time for the chicken to cook through. Remove the chicken to a paper towel lined plate and repeat with the rest of the chicken until it’s all fried. Serve warm with ketchup and homemade fries!
Happy Fry-day!
