Homemade Limeade
Have a little throwback thirstday to summer with this home made limeade. Summer is officially over here in NL, but that shouldn’t stop you from making this refreshing, sweet and yet pleasently tangy homemade limeade. Freeze them into popcicles for lime popcicles!
Use unsweetened lime juice and simple syrup for an even quicker version of this
Ingredients
For 1 liter freshly made limenade
- 175 ml fresh lime juice (about 5-7 limes)
- 125 ml water + 125 gr sugar
- 700 ml water
Start by making a simple syrup from the water and sugar, by putting it in a saucepan on medium heat. Stir occasionally until all the sugar has dissolved. You can also do this in the microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring in between. Pour it in a clean bottle or jar and put it in the fridge until completely cool.
Meanwhile, take your limes out and let them get to room temperature.
Roll the limes on your counter or cutting board under the palm of your hand. Cut them in half and press the juice. Remove the seeds, but leave the bit of pulp in. Strain the juice if you dislike the mouth feel of the pulp. Pour it into a large bottle or pitcher, add the simple syrup and remaining water. Give it a quick shake/stir and put it in the fridge to cool.
Give it a shake/stir! Serve with ice cubes and garnish with lime and mint on a hot summer day. Or any other day, really.
